A Short Guide To Empowerment

Empower Ourselves!

To empower yourself is much easier said than done. In today's day and age, social media can have detrimental effects on mental health and project unrealistic standards.

We must remind ourselves to practice self-love, and know any woman is worthy of love, and perfect in their own way.

Empower Others!

Be kind to women.

Support women-owned brands, listen to female musicians, compliment one another but also stick up for each other!

Aim to be a booster, for small businesses, friends, strangers, and ourselves.

Things To Remember

As women, we need to stand together in solidarity, and white cis heterosexual women also must ackowledge the extra priviledges they hold over WOC (Women of colour) or members of the LGBTQIA+ Community.

Ackownlegding this privilegde allows minorities to have more support.

Background

The fight for women's rights and equality has been around since 1848 (in the United States) up until the present day.
Feminism can be divided into two seperate waves, the first wave in the 19th-20th centuries was more focused on voting rights. The second wave was in the 21st century, more specififcally the Women's Liberation movement in the western world from the 1960s-1980s. This movement didn't have a specific focus, and instead aimed to create changes amongst all aspects for women, from sexuality to politics.

These changes have led to greater, more fufilled lives for women across the globe. Having access to education has allowed women to become politicians, doctors, lawyers, and part of the army.
